Donation
As of May 22, 2006 the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology certified the Foundation as "tokutei koueki zoushin houjin" or a special public interest promoting corporation.
On November 1, 2010, the Foundation has resistered as the Public Interest Incorporated Foundation.
Public interest incorporated foundations or special public interest promoting corporations, charitable organizations and other corporations established by special laws are certified as corporations that make a significant contribution to the promotion of the public interest, including promoting education or science, making progress of culture, or contributing to social welfare.
In this country preferential treatment of tax is made for donators who make donations to such special public interest promoting corporations, in order to encourage donations to the country, municipal orgainzations or public corporations, etc.
The Foundation has been receiving all kinds of supports, both tangible and intangible, from the (then) Mitsubishi Trust and Banking Corporation even after the establishment of the Foundation with donation by the bank. Other than the endower, the Foundation has also been offered intentions of donations to the Foundation from other persons including alumni of the scholars who wanted to donate even small amounts from their "bouns", in order to express their heartful thanks.
